NMAT Pattern
The NMAT by GMAC™ exam is comprised of three sections – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning.
- The exam sections are individually timed and candidates must answer the questions in each section within the allotted time.
- Questions are delivered one at a time and are randomly selected from a pool of questions.
- The number of questions, difficulty levels, and time limit for each of the sections is predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, are the same regardless of when and where the test is administered.
- Candidates can choose the order/sequence of the test sections at the beginning of the exam.

Exam Score
Your scorecard will be available for download within 48 hours of taking the NMAT by GMAC exam and you will be notified by email when it is ready. It will include your scaled section scores and total score.
Please note: testing incidents and audits of online exams may delay scorecard availability by 5 to 7 working days.
Scaled scores
Questions in the NMAT by GMAC™ exam are selected from the question pool for each examinee based on his or her performance on the questions previously answered. The questions a candidate receives are targeted at his or her ability level; therefore, a high-scoring candidate generally receives a more difficult sample of questions than a low-scoring candidate. The NMAT by GMAC™ exam is scored by first obtaining the candidate’s final ability estimate based on the probabilistic model approach of modern exam theory, and then transformed to a scaled score ranging from 12 to 120.
NMAT Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NMAT 2025 a candidate is expected to meet the eligibility criteria given below:
- The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
- Students in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible for the exam.
Note: Before selecting the colleges in the application, candidates should confirm the eligibility criteria of the participating colleges individually as they may vary.
NMAT Admit Card
Admit Card is a document containing your registration details photograph, exam date/time, and venue.You can download your Admit card from the “Admit Card” tab provided in the NMAT by GMAC exam account. You are required to download a fresh copy of the admit card for each attempt. It is mandatory to carry/show the admit card along with required IDs, and confirmation email at a test centre as well as during online proctored exam.
You will be able to print your Admit Card with photograph after the payment is accepted by GMAC.
Please check that your printed photograph on your Admit Card is clearly visible. If the photo is blank or not clearly visible, contact the help desk or email nmatsupport@gmac.com to update the photo.
You will not be allowed to take exam if the exam administrator is unable to match your photo. Please remember to show this Admit Card to the proctor on the day of your scheduled exam. If you fail to do so, you will not be allowed to take exam.
In addition to this Admit Card, you will be required to present other identification documents (original and non-expired) as specified to be allowed to take exam.

Who administers the NMAT by GMAC exam?
The NMAT by GMAC™ exam is a computer administered exam owned by the Graduate Management Global Connection (India) Private Limited (GMGC), a subsidiary of Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).
The NMAT by GMAC™ exam is now available in two modes i.e. Exam at the Test Centre and Online Proctored Exam at Home within India. For Rest of the World the exam is only available as Online Proctored Exam at Home.

Can a test taker review questions and / or sections?
No, review of questions in the NMAT by GMAC™ exam is not allowed.
If a test taker completes answering a section before the allotted section time completion, does the balance time get added to the next section(s)?
No. If a test taker completes answering a section before the allotted section time expires, the balance time cannot be added to the next section’s allotted time.

What is the advantage of having a long window to test?
A long testing window enables the assessment of a test taker’s best performance and at the same time reduces the stress associated with a single sitting test or test offered in a short time window. The longer test window provides the test takers flexibility to take the test when they are best prepared and avoid conflicts with other life events. The test takers will also get the convenience to reschedule the test in case of any exigency. The longer window also provides the test taker with the opportunity to retake the test (maximum 3 attempts, including “No Show”) in case they feel that their performance was impaired on the test day for any reason or if they feel they can improve their performance in retake attempt.
Are there any eligibility requirements to sit for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam?
All test takers who complete the Test Registration process pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published NMAT by GMAC™ exam terms and conditions may sit for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam. It is the responsibility of the test taker to understand the eligibility requirements of all the universities and schools to which he/she is interested in applying before registering for NMAT by GMAC™ exam. If the test taker registers for the test and then determine that he/she is ineligible for admission to the desired program, no test fee refund will be made. For the eligibility requirements, test takers are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.

When and how will a test taker come to know of the test date and location of the test?
In India the exam can be taken from a Test Centre or as an Online Proctored Exam from Home.
For Rest of the world the exam is only available as Online Proctored Exam from Home.

After the registration and payment being received by NMAT by GMAC™ exam, test takers will receive an e-mail (at the e-mail id specified by them in the online application form) confirming their registration for the NMAT by GMAC™ exam. Candidates can schedule their exams through the scheduling exam tab in candidate dashboard available in the account of the candidates.
Exam at the Test Centre: The takers will get to choose the date, time slot and location of their preference subject to availability on a First come First Serve basis. The MeritTrac system shows the availability of seats at the test center on real time basis. Within 24 hours of scheduling the test, the test taker will receive a confirmation e-mail mentioning their test venue name and address along with date and time of the test. Test takers are advised to contact the MeritTrac helpdesk if they do not receive the e-mail within 24 hours of scheduling the test.

Your exam fee will be forfeited if you are unable to meet the system requirements and take the exam. The test takers will get to choose the date and time slot of their preference subject to availability on a First come First Serve basis. The Examity system shows the availability of slots on real time basis. Within 24 hours of scheduling the test, the test taker will receive a confirmation e-mail mentioning date and time of the test. Test takers are advised to contact the Examity helpdesk if they do not receive the e-mail within 24 hours of scheduling the test.

How many times can a test taker take NMAT by GMAC™ exam?
A test taker can take the NMAT by GMAC™ exam up to a maximum of 3 times (first attempt plus 2 retake attempts) including no shows, if he/she wishes to. There is a mandatory gap of 15 days between two attempts hence early scheduling of the exam enables the test taker to plan the retakes within the testing window to improve score.
If a test taker takes the NMAT by GMAC™ exam more than 1 time, which of the scores out of these attempts will be considered by NMAT by GMAC™ exam accepting Schools?

What is the rationale behind allowing test takers to test multiple times?
Test takers have the option to take the NMAT by GMAC™ exam a maximum choice of three times during the testing window. This option enables the assessment of the test takers’ best performance.
When will the NMAT by GMAC™ exam results be declared?
Test takers will be able to see unofficial score card on screen after the test is successfully completed. You will receive your score card with scaled score for the sections and total for your NMAT by GMAC™ exam within 48 hours of giving the exam subject to there are no test delivery incidences and audit of online exams is completed, which may take 5 to 7 working days.
