CAT Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as an University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
Candidates applying for CAT 2025 should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*.
Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage*.
Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*. *SC/ST/PwD candidates should have a minimum 45%. For General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, the minimum is 50%.
The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/Institution. If any University/Institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IIMs. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.
CAT Admit Card
The admit card for CAT 2025 will be available for download from 05-November-2025 to 30-November-2025. Here are a few details to keep in mind for the same-
- The candidates who fill out the CAT application form 2025 and successfully register for the exam will be able to download their admit cards.
- Candidates can access their admit cards by logging into the official website using the registration ID and password. They would then be able to download the admit card.
- The test centers, date and other details of the exam will be present on the admit card.
- Candidates must carry their admit cards with them on the day of the examination.

CAT Reservation
As per the legal requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer (NC-OBC), up to 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates and 5% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
As defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), “Person with Benchmark Disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where t h e specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where the specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016. The categories of disability are:
a) blindness and low vision
b) deaf and hard of hearing
c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d)
f) other ‘specified disabilities’ mentioned in ‘The Schedule’ of the RPwD Act 2016. For the purpose of being considered for reservation, the applicable Central Government list as on the last date of CAT registration shall be binding.
No subsequent changes will be effective for CAT 2025 and any subsequent selection process of the IIMs.

Who is eligible to take the exam?

As per the CAT 2025 eligibility criteria, you must submit the percentage according to your university norms.
I have not completed my Bachelor’s degree/I am in the final year of my Bachelor’s degree. What marks do I need to enter in the Application Form?
As per the CAT 2025 eligibility criteria, you must provide the Aggregate Percentage up to the last marks statement received from the University.
I am not pursuing nor have I completed my Bachelor’s degree or any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA. Am I eligible to appear for CAT 2025?
As you are not appearing/have not completed any Bachelor Degree nor have you completed any Professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA you are not eligible to appear for CAT 2025.
I have completed my 10th/12th standard Board examination. Do I need to enter the marks mentioned on the Mark List?
As per the CAT 2025 criteria, you must mention the Aggregate Percentage of marks (computed using the conversion formula specified by respective board for converting CGPA into percentage of marks) for all subjects irrespective of your Board regulations.
Can I appear for CAT for practice purpose, though I am aware that I am not eligible?
No, you must fulfill the eligibility requirements to appear for CAT. Moreover, appearance in the CAT shall be considered as an attempt.
Is there any age restriction for taking the CAT examination?
No, there is no age restriction for taking the CAT examination.
What is the fee for the CAT examination?
The fee is ₹1300 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates and ₹2600 for all other categories of candidates.
Please note that a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for SC, ST and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PwD certificates at the time of registration. Fee once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
How can I pay the CAT examination fee?
You will be required to pay the CAT examination fee during the online registration through the payment gateway. Use a valid Credit Card, Debit Card, NetBanking, UPI or Wallet facility.
When and how do I register for CAT 2025?
Online registration for CAT 2025 opens on Thursday, August 01, 2025 and closes on Tuesday, September 24, 2025 at 5.00 P.M.
Can I use my coaching institute’s email address or a friend’s email address when registering for CAT?
No, you must provide a valid and unique email address. All correspondence pertaining to CAT 2025 and subsequent information during the selection stages of the respective IIMs will be communicated to the registered email address. It is the candidate’s responsibility to act as per the instruction/information sent to the registered email ID.
When will CAT 2025 be held and can I choose an examination date?
The CAT exam will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 with three sessions (forenoon, afternoon and evening).
Based on your selection of preferred test city, you will be allotted the session slot, test city, and test centre, subject to availability.
From where can I get the list of examination cities?
The list of examination cities will be available on the CAT website before the start of registration.
When will I get my Admit Card?
The Admit Card will be available for view and print from 05-November to 30-November, 2025, 5:00 p.m. onwards. The Admit Card will appear only if your online application form is submitted successfully. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission. You can then log into the CAT website using your registered User ID and view/print the Admit Card.
What details will be mentioned in the Admit Card?
The Admit Card will contain the following details:
- Name of the candidate
- Test date
- PwD status
- Test centre details
- Examination session and time
Will the Admit Card be sent to me as a hard copy or by mail?
The Admit Card will be available on the CAT website only. You must log in using your CAT 2025 User ID to view/print the Admit card.
Note:
The Admit Card is a mandatory document for taking the CAT 2025 examination. You must print the Admit Card and bring it to the examination centre on the day of the examination. Follow the instructions provided in the Admit Card before coming for the examination. The photograph on the physical Admit Card must be the same as the one uploaded at the time of registration.
Are there any special provisions for Person with Disability candidates?

What are the time slots for the CAT 2025 examination?
CAT 2025 will have three sessions: forenoon, afternoon and evening on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Candidates will be assigned a single session depending on the test center availability and city preference.
Can I appear for more than one slot for CAT 2025?
You cannot appear for more than one slot. It will be deemed as a fraudulent activity if you attempt to appear more than once for CAT 2025. To ensure that candidates have only one attempt, Admit Cards, Photo IDs, candidate pictures, and biometric information will be verified. Candidates who attempt to take the test more than once will be eliminated any time during the selection process.
I have made mistake(s) during registration of CAT 2025 and have created my user id and password. What should I do now?
You cannot edit personal details (Date of birth, email address, mobile number etc.) entered during registration once you confirm the submission. If you have made a mistake in these details, you must register again with a new email ID. Your CAT 2025 application will be considered for the latest registration and the Admit Card will be issued for the same. Please note that, you will not receive a refund or Admit Card for your earlier registration. Failure to re-register in such circumstances may lead to nullification of your candidature. No. You must fulfill one of the following criteria to apply for CAT 2025:
- Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*.
- Completed professional degree (For example, CA) with required percentage*
- Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*.
* Minimum percentage requirement for General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates is 50 and for SC/ST/PwD candidates is 45.
I am a General/EWS/NC-OBC category candidate and got 49% in the Bachelor’s degree. I have also completed Master’s degree with 51%. Am I eligible to apply for CAT 2025?
No. As per the CAT eligibility norms, you should have obtained 50% or more in the Bachelor’s degree. Following the norm, you are NOT eligible to apply for CAT 2025.
I am a SC/ST/PwD category candidate with 44% in the Bachelor’s degree and 46% in the Master’s degree, am I eligible to apply for CAT 2025?

I have done a 5-year integrated course of B.Tech and MBA. As per my university norms, the first 3.5 years are considered to be B.Tech and remaining 1.5 years are considered to be MBA. How do I enter my marks?
As per your University norms, you will enter the aggregate percentage of the first 3.5 years under Bachelor’s Degree and the remaining 1.5 years under Master’s degree.
I have completed a 5-year dual degree course (BTech+MTech, BS+MS, BTech+MSc etc.). How do I enter my marks for Bachelor’s degree?
As per your University norms, you must enter the aggregate of marks that are equivalent to Bachelor’s degree under the Bachelor’s degree section and the equivalent marks for the Master’s degree under the Master’s degree section.
I have completed dual Bachelors’ degree courses (BCom+LLB, BPharm+BTech etc.). How do I enter my marks for two Bachelor’s degrees?
On the CAT application form, you must select the option indicating that you have two Bachelor’s degrees. You can then enter the details of both qualifications.
I have an SC/ST certificate in the format uploaded on the CAT 2025 website. Can I use the same certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from the CAT website and fill it again?
If your certificate fulfils the following conditions, you can upload the same certificate:
- The certificate should have been issued by a competent authority.
- The name of the caste and caste number should appear in the certificate.

Note:
The certifying authority should be the one concerned with the locality in which the person applying for a certificate has his permanent place of abode. Revenue Authorities have been empowered to issue certificates on the basis of a certificate issued by an MP, MLA, Gazetted Officer, etc. But they should do so only after proper verification and after having satisfied themselves of the corrections.

I have a valid OBC (Non-creamy layer) certificate in the similar format uploaded on the CAT 2025 website. Can I use the same certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from the CAT website and fill it again?

I have changed my name with due procedure after completing my degree. Should I enter my name as per the degree certificate or the changed name?
You must enter your changed name and provide the supporting documents for change of name at the time of examination, interview and admission.
Which screen appears after I log into the website post registration?
After successful registration, you can use the system generated User ID and Password to log in to the website. Upon logging in, you will first see the Registration Summary page. Click on ‘Go to Application Form’. This will direct you to the Application Form page.
What should I do if I have not received the password or have lost the SMS?
If you have not received the password or have lost the SMS, click the Forgot User ID/Password option on the Existing User login page. You will be prompted to enter your registered Email ID and a Captcha string. The new password will be sent to your registered email address.
Note:
Regenerated passwords will not be sent as an SMS.
What should I do if I am not able to locate the user ID?
Please click on Forgot User ID/Password button on Existing User login page and enter your registered Email ID and prompted Captcha string to receive the User ID/Password on the registered Email ID.
I have received multiple passwords. Which password I should enter to login?
You need to use the password contained in the most recent SMS you have received. In case you are not able to login, you can simply use your user id and click ‘forgot password’. You will receive a new password through email on your registered email id.
The University name is not mentioned in the drop-down list while filling the application form?
If your university’s name does not appear in the drop down, you may select the option “Others” from the drop down list.
Which documents need to be uploaded while filling the application form?
If you have chosen EWS Or NC-OBC or SC or ST as the category, then you need to upload the relevant certificate.
If you are a PwD category applicant, then you need to upload the relevant PwD certificate

Which documents must I submit if I belong to the SC/ST category?

- The caste certificate that you upload in the Application Form should be in the Government approved format. The certificate format is also available on the CAT website under the Certificates section. Download and print the certificate, and clearly state the following:

- District and the State or Union Territory of your ordinary residence.

What are Testing Assistive devices?
Testing Assistive devices (TA devices), also known as technical aids, are designed to directly enable candidates with disabilities to perform a particular task successfully.

Will the means of testing assistance be provided to me directly at the test center?
Based on your request in the Application Form, only a magnifying screen (system-built feature) and a wheel chair will be arranged by the test center. All other approved means of testing assistance including abacus, hearing aids,wheelchair, scribe/reader need to be arranged by you.
What will be the time extension given to a PwD candidate?
PwD candidates with or without scribe requirement will be given a time extension of 20 minutes per hour, which comes to a total extension of 40 minutes for a 2 hour test.
Who will provide a scribe/reader in case required by a PwD candidate?
The PwD candidate will have to make arrangements for a scribe. He/she will have to carry the Scribe Affidavit available on the CAT website.
Is there an eligibility criterion for a scribe/reader?
There is no eligibility criterion. On the day of the test, the scribe must bring a valid proof of identity and a passport sized photograph, and sign a declaration about his/her educational qualifications at the test venue.
Do I have to fill a form to request for a scribe/reader?
You need not fill a form to request for a scribe. You must indicate in the CAT application that you will be using a scribe. The candidate has to carry a Scribe Affidavit available on the CAT website.
Note: PwD candidates requiring the assistance of a scribe/reader will have to make the arrangement themselves.
Where can I register for the CAT 2025 test?
PwD candidates, like General candidates, can register and submit the application for CAT 2025 on www.iimcat.ac.in
Where do I mail my PwD certificate for approval?
You must upload the scanned copy of the PwD certificate while filling the online Application Form.
I have a PwD certificate in the format given on the CAT 2025 website. Can I use this certificate or do I have to download the certificate template from CAT 2025 website and fill it again?
If your certificate fulfills the following conditions, you can upload the same certificate with your application form:
- The certificate should have been issued by the competent authority.
- The photo should be available in the certificate (if applicable).
- The certificate should be valid as per the RPwD Act 2016.
- The certificate should be in Hindi/English only.
Will the extra 40 minutes be distributed among 3 sections?
Yes. For PwD candidates, the extra 40 minutes will be distributed equally for each section.
