Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a multi-disciplinary university offering its students and faculty a vibrant learning ecosystem designed around its multi-cultural and innovative ethos. Established in 1971 by Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar,it is a ‘home away from home’ for International students. The Institution is based on the principles of Vedic thought of “World as One Family”.The University’s name fittingly captures the quintessence of the relationship with International students; a mutually beneficial bond between India and the International student community. Symbiosis is committed to building international understanding by offering quality education, and is resplendent of the activities and students of more than 85 countries. Today the university has 37 Constituents, 7 Research Centres, 9 Support departments and 11 Departments of Skills & Continuing Education across four states and 6 cities in India. The University was given “Deemed to be University” status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2002.Symbiosis International (Deemed University) offers doctoral, post graduate, under graduate, diploma and certificate programmes in Law, Management, Computer Studies, Health Sciences, Media & Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering and Architecture & Design. The University has been awarded Category-I status by UGC, and an ‘A’ grade by NAAC with a score 3.58 on 4. In the residential campuses category, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) has been ranked #1 in the country in the ‘Swachh Campus Rankings 2018’, #43by NIRF 2020in India under the Universities Category, #109 in BRICS QS World ranking 2018-19, and is the only Indian university to have received the Asia Pacific Quality Label. |

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are required to check their eligibility as per the Ph.D. rules of the University. Only registration with the website for admission, qualifying Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) or getting selected in Personal Interview for Ph.D. will not make you eligible for obtaining the degree. You need to have pre-requisite qualification as per the UGC Regulations and if not, please be aware that the University does not bear any responsibility for the rejection of your candidature in future. Eligibility: A candidate seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme must satisfy any one of the following eligibility requirements: ● Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. ● Relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differently-Abled categories or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures. ● Candidates who have successfully completed the M.Phil. Degree with 55% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed), shall be eligible to take admission to the Ph. D. Degree. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST//differently-abled categories. ● Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme. ● Master’s degree or equivalent in any subject with 55% marks plus minimum of five years of work experience in the area of interdisciplinary research in which admission is being sought. Interdisciplinary research involves two or more academic, scientific, or artistic disciplines.The candidate must show evidence of his/her relevant experience in interdisciplinary area of research |
